Description

This Sweet Alabama Pecan Bread is a perfect blend of buttery sweetness and crunchy pecans. With a moist, soft texture and a rich, nutty flavor, it’s a versatile treat ideal for breakfast, dessert, or as a snack with coffee or tea. Inspired by Southern traditions, this bread is easy to make and will quickly become a favorite in your kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  4. Stir in the buttermilk until fully combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  6. Gently fold in the chopped pecans, ensuring they’re evenly distributed.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Ensure the butter is slightly warm, not hot, to avoid cooking the eggs when adding them to the mixture.
  • Do not overmix the batter to prevent dense bread. Stir just until combined.
  • You can toast the pecans beforehand to enhance their flavor.
  • Store the bread in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
  • This bread pairs wonderfully with coffee, tea, or milk.
